Finding The Perfect Million Dollar Condo In Kona Hawaii

Finding The Perfect Million Dollar Condo In Kona Hawaii

Relax to the sounds of the ocean.

Watch humpback whales and spinner dolphins from your private lanai.

View the most spectacular sunsets.

Sounds like heaven, right?

I think when most people think about living in a tropical paradise, these are just a few of the things that come to mind. And with good reason. Who couldn’t relax and lose all the tensions of a busy day when faced with these few things each evening? And that’s just from an outside view!

To me, property here in Hawaii needs two things to be great; a gorgeous view, and all the comforts on the inside that make it the perfect place to call home.

For some people the comforts come in the form of a condo instead of a single family residence. If condo living here in Hawaii is the first item on your checklist, never fear; there are many options here for you on the Big Island.

Room With A View

One of the best reasons to consider a condo is the view. A condo instantly adds elevation to your view, depending on how high up in your building you go. That’s why the penthouse is always the best.

The Social Setting

Condos bring many different people together all in one building. Its an instant social gathering. That can be good – or bad – depending on your perspective. Condo living takes some getting use to, especially if you’ve always owned your own space. If you have questions, you can start by asking your realtor. Also consider chatting with a potential neighbor or two to find out what the building is truly like. How noisy is it? What are the benefits (and the drawbacks)? The more research you do before you sign on the dotted line, the better prepared you’ll be after the moving van drives away.

Lock And Leave

I think one of the greatest reasons to own a condo here in Kona is the “lock and leave” possibilities. If you travel a lot, or are using this purchase as a second home, there are times when you won’t be in Hawaii. With a house, you’ll have to find someone to take care of the gardens and the pool, as well as check in on the security of your home. This is where the social setting of a condo really pays off. All outside maintenance will be taken care of for you, and those extra sets of eyes will keep your unit safe when you’re not there. Less to worry about; more peace of mind for you.

Just You?

Will the condo be a purchase just for you? Or will you be turning it into investment property? This is a good thing to keep in mind as you begin the search for the perfect condo. If you’ll be living in your unit full time, are the units around you all rental units? If you’ll be renting it out, how will your new neighbors adjust to the influx of vacation traffic? Is the building equipped for rental property? Its important that you approach your purchase with your intentions right from the beginning to find the perfect property to meet your needs.
