Best places to live in Hawaii

You cannot find the right spot in Hawaii to live until you really understand what makes you happy in life. That will determine what island is the best for you. Luckily, Hawaii offers something for just about everybody.

The Island of Hawaii, AKA the Big Island: There is a reason the island of Hawaii is called the “big island.” If you take all of the other Hawaiian islands and combine them and double that land mass, you will have the island of Hawaii. This is a vert diverse place geographically. It includes rain forests, volcanoes, mountains, and beautiful beaches. There are two main cities, Hilo and Kona. Hilo is the oldest city in the state. Kona is a tourist center and most of the hotels and resorts for the island are in that area. This the most affordable island to buy property.

The Island of Oahu: Honolulu, the state capital, is located on this, the most populated island in Hawaii. If you need to live in a city, this is the place for you. With the urban center that is Honolulu, you can experience city life like any place on the mainland, with tons of things to do. Being in Hawaii, you also have access to some of the best beaches in the world with some of the best surfing and windsurfing on the planet. You can get city life and access to nature preserves and state parks. There is a reason so many people want to live here.

The Island of Kauai: This island may be the opposite of Oahu. It is the least developed in the state. People have given Kauai the nickname, “The Garden Island.” The geographic landscape features lush jungles, beautiful canyons, impressive cliffs, rivers and the Na Pali Coast. This is one of the most popular places to hike on earth. This is one of the best places to live in Hawaii to live for laid back people who live active lives.

The Island of Maui:  While the second largest Hawaiian island is becoming increasingly commercialized, it remains a great place for outdoor activities. It can be considered to be a good in between place. It has some of the bustle of Oahu but then some of the laid back character and lifestyle that can be found on Kauai. The population is split between the two cities on the island and the more rural parts of the island. If you like mountains and the beach, this is a great island.

For a state with such a small land mass, Hawaii packs a lot of living in. There is so much to do, you will have a hard time finding someone who cannot enjoy living there. The motto of the state is, “To do what is right in your life and for the land.”  If you are interested in looking at homes for sale, contact the Professional Realtor® Annette at Live On The Big Island  today at 808•217•8500 and let her help you find the home of your dreams.
