How to Keep Calm and Carry On During a Real Estate Purchase.

Buying can be overwhelming and stressful. I’ve had buyers that literally cry if they don’t hear back from a seller in time and those that get themselves so emotionally worked up they’ve almost fainted. Buying doesn’t have to be this way but there are some strategies for keeping calm and carrying on, as they say. If you’re undertaking a real estate purchase, here are some ways to ease your mind.

Trust Your Agent

If you choose a real estate agent with seasoned experience and skills you should be able to trust them during the process. It’s our job to guide you through and answer any questions you may have about the process and transaction. Trust us to turn in paperwork on time, be diligent about returning calls and getting answers when necessary.

Ask Questions

Sometimes, just not knowing the answer to something can stress you out. Don’t hesitate to ask! That’s what I’m here for. Keep track of your questions and write them down when you think of them so you don’t feel added stress that you forgot what to ask! Making notes and keeping track of questions you want answers too can ease some of your anxieties.

Keep track of dates.

As your real estate agent, I will inform you of different dates, times and resources for things like the home inspection, appraisal, title and escrow closings, etc. Make a list, keep track of these dates, and don’t feel bad if you have to ask for them again. I want you comfortable and in the know when it comes to this purchase. If there is ever something you don’t understand, ask for clarification. Understanding something can go a long way in easing your mind.

Keep in communication with your lender.

If you’re getting a home loan, stay in contact with your lender. At least once a week, ask how it’s going and if they need anything. It keeps them on the ball and keeps your stress level down knowing everything is working in conjunction with each other to get the deal closed.

Take some time off.

Buying a house is time-consuming so this probably isn’t the best time to take a business trip, buy a new car or take on extra hours at work. Try to take a few days off and let your employer know what’s happening so you can be available if necessary. Relax and enjoy this process and imagine what your new home will be like.

Have fun!

Don’t forget to have fun! Dream about your new place and check out the neighborhood. Drive around and find a local coffee shop, check out the schools if you will be utilizing them and find a restaurant you might like. Enjoy this process and have fun.
