More About Holualoa homes

Nestled in the heart of coffee country, Holualoa is tucked among the slopes of the Hualalai volcano and is considered one of the more artistic communities of the west side. This area is about as picturesque as you can get with the major highway, as major as Hawaii Highway can be coupled with a winding two-lane road lined with charming art galleries, popular coffee shops, fantastic restaurants, and quaint little boutiques. And you’ll occasionally catch a wild turkey making its way across the street or up into the bushes.

Coffee is one of Holualoa’s most price commodities as this little town is in the heart of the Kona coffee country. The climate is perfect for growing this temperamental coffee bean and there are many orchards offering public tours so visitors and locals alike can learn about how coffee is grown and processed. Of course, this means there are plenty of little coffee shops throughout Holualoa.

Events

The annual Holualoa Village Coffee & Art Stroll is one of the area’s most popular events happening each November. Locals, tourists, and visitors alike can chat with local artists, farmers, and coffee growers. You’ll find music, delicious native treats, and of course, fantastic coffee to sip as you browse the vendors.

The Holualoa Music and Light Festival is also held here every December. Folks gather around for the Christmas tree lighting and listen to live Christmas music and delicious treats from galleries and shops close by. Don’t leave without getting a picture with Santa, some hot cocoa, and leave with yummy treats like candy canes and chocolate covered macadamia nuts.

Schools

Residents are part of the Hawaii Department of Education and are served by the Holualoa elementary school and one charter school in the district. Most kids travel to Kailua Kona for middle schools and high schools.

Real Estate

The area is a little bit quieter than it’s neighboring Kailua Kona. Most homes provide privacy and beautiful ocean views compared with a quiet rural lifestyle. You’re likely to find a darling little vintage coffee shacks to beautiful estate homes on 30 acres or more. If you’re looking for a ranch or coffee plantation, you’ll likely find it in Holualoa. There’s plenty of tropical fruit, foliage, and beautiful flowers decorating nearly every residential property in town. Lots start at about $200,000 up to multi-million-dollar estates and beautiful plantations with stunning views of the ocean.
